How Amazon Japan invite raffles work
For high-demand trading card products, Amazon.co.jp often replaces first-come-first-served checkout with an invite-based sale (招待販売). You request an invitation on the product page; Amazon selects who gets one; selected shoppers then get a limited window to buy at list price. Requesting is free and does not charge you — you only pay if you are selected and choose to complete the purchase.
- Sign in to an Amazon.co.jp account — it is a separate marketplace from amazon.com, and creating one is free.
- Open the product page and press the invite-request button (the arrows in the list above go straight there).
- If you are selected, Amazon emails you an invitation with a purchase deadline. Miss the window and it lapses.
- Whether it can ship to you depends on the individual item — see below.
Can you request one from outside Japan?
Requesting is usually possible with an overseas account. The real gate is shipping. Amazon.co.jp does ship abroad through AmazonGlobal, but eligibility is set per item, and limited-run trading card products are frequently domestic-shipping only. Always check the delivery section on the product page to see whether your country is listed before assuming you can receive it.
If an item is not eligible for international delivery, buyers commonly use a Japan-based package-forwarding address. Forwarding adds its own fees, and customs, duties and import rules differ by country and change over time — check your own country's current rules. We do not quote duty amounts because they would go stale.
Practical notes that improve your odds
- Request several items rather than one. Selection is per product, so more entries means more chances.
- Enter early in the request window rather than at the deadline.
- Watch your spam folder for the invitation email; the purchase window is short.
- The most expensive and fastest-moving sets draw the most entries — check the current price and change columns on our board before deciding what to chase.
Frequently asked questions
Is requesting an invitation free?
Yes. Submitting a request costs nothing and does not place an order. You are only charged if you are selected and complete the purchase within the window Amazon gives you.
Do I need a Japanese address or phone number?
You need an Amazon.co.jp account. Whether the item can be delivered to your own country depends on that item's international shipping eligibility — many limited trading card products are domestic-only, in which case buyers use a Japan-based forwarding address instead.
Does requesting more than once improve my chances?
No. Repeated requests for the same product do not stack. Entering several different products is what increases your overall odds.
Is the raffle price cheaper than the market price?
Usually, yes — that is the point. Invite sales are at Japanese list price, while the open market often trades the same sealed product well above it. Our board shows the current market price for every set.
